Brown 2026
In advance of America’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026—recognized nationally as “America250”—Brown University launched “Brown2026,” a multi-year, faculty-led initiative exploring the University’s historical role and the future of American democracy through research, events and student engagement.
As lead designer, I developed the visual identity, including a campaign wordmark and flexible event tag used across University programming. I also partnered with the web team to design a cohesive visual system for the initiative’s site within the broader brown.edu ecosystem. In collaboration with marketing leadership, we explored alternative naming to avoid confusion with the Class of 2026 before ultimately aligning on “Brown2026.” The final identity integrates seamlessly with the University’s brand, incorporating a star motif as a subtle reference to the American flag.
The initiative launched in January 2025, beginning a year of programming leading into the official anniversary.
